Serendipity on Mother's Day 💖

Isn’t it crazy when everything aligns in ways you’d never have imagined nor designed?! ✨

my sister, my mom and me… summer 1974. ❤️

In very early 2024 I contacted Marie Bryce, at Emerging Narrative, to ask if she might be able to help me with a project I’d long been pondering. Knowing that, if I didn’t get it on the calendar, I might well lose my nerve… we scheduled our video shoot for late March.

This project / video / artist’s statement - really: my work as a whole - has my mom at its core… and - purely by happenstance - it was finished + delivered to me yesterday, hours before Mother’s Day. ✨

As I pondered when + where + how to share it, I realized the serendipitous nature of it all and KNEW that the Mother’s Day wishes I’d planned to send out to you should include this unveiling… honouring the woman who gave me life, whom we lost way too soon, and from whose life + memory I derive such inspiration. I love you Mom, and I will forever + deeply appreciate you + your example.

To anyone in pain this Mother’s Day, whether grieving the loss of their own mom, a mother figure, or their child… my heart aches for you and I am sending you so much love.

To all the moms celebrating the day: you make the world go ‘round - literally - and I hope you feel honoured + seen + celebrated today. Sending so much love.

To all the women who had dreams of motherhood but who have had to adapt to a reality not matching their hopes, I am sending you so much love.

To ALL the women who mother, however that may look:
we salute you and we love you.

Here’s to a more peaceful world for our sons and daughters,
with a raised glass to all the MOMS making this world a better place.

Happy Mother’s Day!
