pozole, sunshine + safer beauty... + a reminder of graduation goodness

Whoosh…… last time I wrote you was NYE 2022 and here we are: already into March! 🤯
I hope the beginning of this year has been kind to you and that, if you’ve had to confront struggles, you are mustering the strength + resolve needed for the areas in your life that may not be unfolding as hoped or expected. 🙏🏼

Cash, Stevie & Lenny ❤️

While the studio is open, I’ve been spending the majority of my time broadening my skill sets (more on that later), helping our eldest zero-in-on his university plans, and raising our two newest pups. 🥰 #carpediem

Lots going on but you all have been on my mind and I wanted to send a quick hello and to share with you a few things I’m currently loving… (I think my last ‘faves’ post was in 2012 🙄… note that Hanky Panky continues to hold its spot on ‘my all time faves’ list! ✅)

For the food lovers (or anyone who eats 😉)… while not a new fave in our home, this recipe is so good that I feel compelled to share it with you! Green Chicken Pozole - one of the easiest AND yummiest crockpot recipes EVER! I like to sprinkle broken tortilla chips and feta on top - hearty, healthy, and super easy. Definitely a top 5 family favourite in our house! In fact, it’s on the menu tonight and has been filling our home with the smell of deliciousness all afternoon 😋 (don’t skip the step of baking the onion/jalapeño/tomatillos first - trust me 💯)!

For anyone who, like me, appreciates a sun kissed glow (especially those of us confronting the oh-so-pale-days of winter 🙄); I discovered Saltyface in December and I’m obsessed🌞. I have both the tanning water for face and the tanning foam for body… I can say that the water has been super easy to use (and bonus tip is that it’s also great for subtle contouring 💃🏻)! The foam works really well too but you do need to be a little more careful with application (although, tbh, the only time I had streaks was when I slapped it on without much care at all sooo.. my bad! 🤦🏼‍♀️) They offer two shades, which means that you can pick what most suits your skin and season (I’m using light/med now but definitely plan on using the med/dark once summer roles in 🌞). If you want to: warm up your skin tone, go with less makeup, and/or have that je ne sais quoi without risking sun damage - this stuff is sunshine in a bottle… oh —> AND it’s SAFE, AND it’s CANADIAN! /👏🇨🇦❤️ #exfoliationiskey

For the humans among us 😉… while I am not yet done reading it, I’m really enjoying Jay Shetty’s new book: “8 Rules of Love”. It’s an illuminating read (or, if you’re not a ‘reader’ it’s also available as an audio book, and read by Jay himself (seriously, who doesn't want to hear him read? 😍 …what is it about beautiful men with accents? Am I right?! 😜). Shetty combines his monk’s training in Vedic wisdom with science, and then weaves in a whole lotta intuition & vulnerability, helping us ALL lean into loving ourselves and others better. 5⭐️

Congrats on 10 years Beautycounter! 🥂

My last fave for today is: Beautycounter! If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll already know I’m a brand advocate (consultant 😉) with THE unequivocal LEADER in clean beauty. I joined the company in 2017 as I so passionately believed in the mission, advocacy, and products… forward to today and my resolve has only strengthened. Check out our Never List that now includes over 2,800 ingredients, which means you don’t need degrees in biology, chemistry, nor medicine to read the labels or to feel at ease that what you’re putting on yours and your family’s skin (AKA our biggest organ) is safe! 🙌

beauty should be good for you and sure as hell should not be harmful. 👊

On March 4 we’re celebrating 10 years of safer beauty and there will be deals you won’t want to miss (seriously - follow my beautycounter acct on IG to ensure you don’t miss a thing!) For anyone new to the brand - or those who haven’t tried these particular products yet - here are a few of my daily go-to’s: Dew Skin (a glowy finish with amazing sun protection —> it checks ALL the boxes my plastic surgeon, who removed the Basal Cell Carcinoma from my cheek in 2012, told me to insist on (click here if you’re curious)), Think Big All-In-One Mascara (best I’ve ever used, and - at 48 - I’ve used a tonne 😉), and the Reflect Effect AHA Smoothing Facial Mask and Tool (this mask takes 10 min and the results are instantaneous and noticeable… as for the tool: I didn’t think I needed it BUT I started using it a few months back and wish I’d started sooner - love the ease of application and the extra massage/exfoliation!) Holler if you have any product or business questions - always happy to chat beautycounter! 💞

Would love to hear if you have any faves to share… it takes a village!

A final note that grad season is fast approaching: have you booked your graudate’s session yet? My available dates are filling up…

don’t delay if an empowering portrait session marking this milestone is exactly the gift you’d like to give!
